What is tungsten carbide spraying
Tungsten carbide is a kind of superfine powder with dark gray color. Tungsten carbide powder can be calcined into jewelry, special tools for laser cutting or mechanical parts of engineering projects.
However, if tungsten carbide is mixed with a small amount of metal powder, it will be sprayed with tungsten carbide, which can produce tungsten carbide coating on the surface of metal materials.
Is tungsten carbide spraying a metal material?
Although tungsten carbide is a hard and fragile structural ceramic, it will be mixed with cobalt, chromium and nickel when used as a tungsten carbide coating. This kind of metal ceramic composite coating combines the plasticity of metal composite materials and the high toughness of ceramic tungsten carbide, thus obtaining excellent performance.
Main applications of tungsten carbide spraying
Tungsten carbide has a variety of potential applications, including thermal tungsten carbide sprayed coatings. This tungsten carbide coating is common on brake discs of high-performance vehicles. In this application, the tungsten carbide coating improves performance and maintenance intervals, and reduces brake pedal smoke.

One of the most important applications of tungsten carbide is to produce CNC blades for processing. This CNC blade uses the wear resistance and temperature resistance of raw materials. They are generally used when steel is damaged too quickly, such as high-precision or mass production.
This kind of raw materials or their combination are also commonly used, such as tungsten cobalt carbide polymer materials in bullets designed to pierce armor. The compressive strength of tungsten carbide is also common in mining and basic drilling. In sports competitions, it is generally used as the raw material for the top of climbing poles or ski poles.
Tungsten carbide spraying is generally used for jewelry wearing and surgical equipment. In the latter application, it shows stronger performance than stainless steel plate, but it is more expensive and must be solved more carefully.
Production and processing of tungsten carbide spraying coating
(1) Parts cleaning: roughly clean the mating surfaces and precise positioning holes of the parts with polishing cotton and toluene, then clean the parts with cotton and toluene, and then clean them until there is no stain on the surface of the parts, that is, after scrubbing with a clean cotton, the cotton has no residue.
(2) Assisted in the production and design of work clothes, and created three locating pins. The locating pin is a step locating pin, and the precision of the matching with the hole is 0.004mm. The diameter parallelism of the two step pins is 0.0008mm.
(3) Grinding and polishing: the three locating pins are consistent with the accurate locating holes on the parts, and the parts are produced and processed to the required specifications based on the three-point centering principle. The precision positioning error of the positioning pin is 0.001 mm, and the precision positioning error is 0.02 mm.
Step 4: Final experiment
(1) Appearance: 100% inspection of part appearance. The coating surface of parts shall be detailed, high-density, uniform in color, and free from defects such as cracks, peeling, layering, edge warping, etc.
(2) Adhesion: laser cut the coating strip at 7mm around the diameter on the sample surface with a cutter head, and then vertically split the coating
strip and laser cut the coating. When the coating edge is exposed, the coating shall not be pulled up, and the adhesion shall meet the standard.
