Product Description

Spherical Cast tungsten carbide powder

Tungsten carbide powder (WC) is the main raw material for producing hard alloys, with the chemical formula WC. The full name is tungsten carbide powder, which is a black hexagonal crystal with metallic luster and hardness similar to diamond. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat. Melting point 2870 ºC, boiling point 6000 ºC, relative density 15.63 (18 ºC). Tungsten carbide is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid, but is easily soluble in a mixed acid of and  Pure tungsten carbide is fragile, and adding a small amount of titanium, cobalt, and other metals can reduce brittleness. Tungsten carbide, which is used as a steel cutting tool, is often added with titanium carbide, tantalum carbide or their mixture to improve the antiknock ability. The chemical properties of tungsten carbide are stable.
Nature:
Tungsten carbide powder is a dark gray powder that can dissolve in various carbides, especially in titanium carbide, with a high solubility, forming a TiC-WC solid melt. Another compound of tungsten and carbon is tungsten carbide, with the chemical formula W2C, a melting point of 2860 ºC, a boiling point of 6000 ºC, and a relative density of 17.15. Its properties, preparation method, and use are the same as tungsten carbide powder.
Purpose:
Tungsten carbide powder is mainly used for the production of hard alloys. In tungsten carbide powder, carbon atoms embedded in the gaps of tungsten metal lattice do not destroy the original metal lattice, forming interstitial solid solution, so it is also called interstitial (or inserted) compound.
Production:
Using metal tungsten powder and carbon black as raw materials, a mixture is prepared in a certain proportion. The mixture is loaded into a graphite boat, placed in a carbon tube furnace or a high and medium frequency induction furnace, carbonized at a certain temperature, and then subjected to ball milling and screening to obtain tungsten carbide powder.
Characteristics: Solid spherical structure, stable chemical properties, excellent flow performance, good processability, high microhardness, and high wear resistance.
Usage:
Widely used in petroleum drill bits, PDC drill tools, and other infiltration, spraying, surfacing, laser cladding manufacturing processes, mainly for wear surfaces, playing a wear-resistant and reinforcing role.
Spherical cast tungsten carbide powder, as a high-end powder developed by our company, has excellent sphericity. Compared to ordinary tungsten carbide, spherical tungsten carbide has higher hardness, is more stable at high temperatures, and is not prone to loss of C, making it more suitable for plasma and laser applications. Customers can choose ingredients, and its powder mixture has a loose packing ratio that is close to and good sphericity, resulting in a small porosity and stable quality of the finished product.
